You're a Warlock. But instead of drawing power from a higher being, people can choose to donate a portion of their magical power to you. In exchange, they can scry on your adventures and can send telepathic messages to you, as well as make requests. It can get annoying, but you make it work.

“Alright, we’re about to head into the dungeon. Daz has gone ahead to check for traps, but we’re pretty confident -- hey,  M’stha’venalth the Destroyer, thanks for the three months, really appreciate it -- yeah we’re pretty confident we got the, uh, we got the thing in the bag, shouldn’t take more than a few sessions at best. Who needs a long rest, am I right? Oh, just got a Sending from Gleek, ‘are you gonna need Darkvision again’, nah, comrade, torches all the way. You know we gotta keep it real around here. Plus I love the burning pitch smell. Okay, good vibe emojis only, viewers, we’re going in!”

"the barbie movie critiques capitalism!" i need y'all to understand and internalize that you can enjoy things even if they're not ideologically pure

keplercryptids

yes insisting that matel's glorified toy ad movie is anticapitalist is a wild assertion. but it's also fine to enjoy the dressing-up-in-pink movie without ritualistic self-admonishment and shame. like, you can enjoy a thing and also be aware that the thing is not going to liberate us from the shackles of capitalism. both things can be true.

This site's tolerance and acquiescence to incest is so fucking insane like "I don't support it but my mutual is cool so I'll allow it" "richard siken's artistic contributions to society absolve him" "ethel cain can ship whatever, she's earned it" like I'm not going to lie to you it's kinda looking like you do support it...

tummyacheworld

this post is perfect because it hits that sweet spot of being able to destroy my notifications with pissed off people forever BUT also being controversial enough that people who agree with this won't reblog it either so it's never breaching containment and I live in peace

tummyacheworld

it is however totally okay to reblog btw

Good-faith question that will probably make you think I'm arguing in bad faith incoming.

Two out of three of the examples above were fictional. the outlier is the mutuals part, which seems purposefully unclear so you can prove your point.

Do you think that the literary device of incest - especially its rich history in horror, tragedy, and works exploring familial trauma - is equivalent to the actual, irl crime of incest?

Because it isn't. It really, really isn't.

I think that the glorification, positive sexualization of elements like incest, noncon and pedophilia in both media and fandom spaces have very tangible IRL consequences on people who consume it and those around them, but hey, ask any other victims of any of these, don't stick to one opinion.

I did not make this post about media where these elements are so clearly portrayed in a negative light. I believe we SHOULD talk about these topics and that the trauma of the victims SHOULD BE PORTRAYED IN MEDIA in order to raise awareness. These two are completely different things.

They should be easy to differentiate. There is a clear difference between "exploring dark topics" to evoke trauma and horror in the consumer, and using these elements in a way that is so clearly fetishist (i.e. shipping, which implies an undeniably positive sentiment toward the relationship).

Because they are not the same, they really, really aren't.
